How do cargos work on this platform?
Open Cargo is a neutral information platform. You can search for cargo providers based on your origin and destination. We aggregate community-reported history and reviews so you can evaluate providers before contacting them. All transactions and agreements happen directly between you and the provider.
How do I compute the CBM (Cubic Meter)?
CBM is a measure of volume. To calculate it: multiply length × width × height in meters (m). For example: 1.2m × 1.0m × 1.5m = 1.8 CBM. If you have measurements in centimeters (cm), multiply them and divide by 1,000,000. (e.g., 120cm × 100cm × 150cm / 1,000,000 = 1.8 CBM).
Pro Tip:
Most international shipping is calculated based on "Volumetric Weight" – which is the greater of actual weight or CBM converted to kg. Always check with your provider!
How do I review a cargo?
To review a cargo, find their listing on the 'Find a cargo' page, click 'View reviews', and use the 'Write a Review' composer at the top of the reviews panel. Be sure to provide factual details about your experience.
What are the uncertainties inherent to cargos?
Shipping involves variables outside a provider's direct control, such as customs delays, port congestion, weather conditions, and seasonal fluctuations. Additionally, community reviews are subjective opinions. We recommend using the community score as one of many signals when making your decision.
